Commercial Construction Estimator
Position Summary
Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to join their client's team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. The role involves analyzing drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop pricing, identify risks, and support successful bid preparation. The Estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure complete and timely proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical plans and specifications to determine project scope.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and detailed proposals for commercial construction projects.
- Perform site visits or job walks to assess field conditions and validate project requirements.
- Request, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure competitive bids.
- Identify project risks, clarifications, missing information, and develop RFIs as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams-including project management, engineering, and field operations-during the estimating and pre-construction phases.
- Maintain organized project documentation, bid files, historical data, and pre-construction records.
- Track bid schedules, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure timely submission.
- Utilize estimating software, spreadsheets, and industry tools for accurate and efficient estimating.
- Support handoff to project management after award, providing scope summaries and budget details.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in commercial construction estimating or related construction disciplines.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and construction-related software tools.
- Excellent communication skills for working with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple bids, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tenant improvements, ground-up commercial builds, low-voltage, fire/life safety, or specialty systems.
- Familiarity with building codes, permitting requirements, and construction best practices.
- Experience performing on-site assessments or participating in site walks.
- Knowledge of project management processes, schedules, and construction sequencing.
Requirements
Education requirement is a High School diploma.
Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 1st shift.

Additional Details
Pay range is from $38.46 to $52.88 per hour. Around 10% travel time is expected.
